Privacy Policy

Before We Begin

Nobody wakes up and thinks: “Today, I’m going to read a Privacy Policy.”

And yet, here you are. So we’ll keep this simple.

ROOTATOM collects some information so the platform can work, your account can stay secure, and your experience can improve over time. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and what happens to it.

The short version:

Now for the slightly longer version.

1. What Information We Collect

Information You Give Us

When you create an account or use ROOTATOM, you may provide information such as:

Nothing particularly exciting. Just enough information to know who you are and make the platform function properly.

Information Created While You Use ROOTATOM

As you use the Service, we may collect information such as:

This helps us answer important questions like: is the platform working? Is something broken? Can we make this better?

Without this information, we’d basically be guessing. And guessing is not a great strategy.

Support Requests

If you contact support, report a bug, or tell us that something has gone spectacularly wrong, we may collect contact information, issue descriptions, screenshots, attachments, and other information you choose to provide.

The more details you provide, the easier it is for us to help.

Cookies

Yes. We use cookies. No. Not the edible kind. The internet kind.

Cookies help keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and stop ROOTATOM from acting like it’s meeting you for the first time every five minutes.

2. Why We Use Your Information

We use information to:

In short: to keep ROOTATOM useful, reliable, and not on fire.

3. The Question Everyone Really Wants Answered

Do You Sell My Data?

No. Not to advertisers. Not to data brokers. Not to mysterious corporations. Not to anyone.

Your personal information stays your personal information.

4. When We Share Information

Running a modern platform requires help from trusted service providers. We may share information with companies that assist us with hosting, infrastructure, analytics, security, and customer support.

They only receive the information necessary to perform their services and are required to protect it appropriately.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, a court or regulator requires it, it is necessary to protect users, ROOTATOM, or the public, or ROOTATOM undergoes a merger, acquisition, or business restructuring.

We may also use or share information that has been anonymized or aggregated so it cannot reasonably identify any individual.

5. How We Protect Information

We use reasonable technical, administrative, and organizational safeguards to protect personal information.

We spend a lot more time thinking about security than you should have to. That’s kind of the point.

That said, no system connected to the internet can be guaranteed to be perfectly secure. Anyone promising 100% security is either extremely optimistic or trying to sell something.

6. How Long We Keep Information

We keep information only for as long as necessary to provide the Service, improve the platform, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.

Different types of information may be retained for different periods depending on their purpose and legal requirements.

We’re not interested in keeping information forever just because we can.

7. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to:

If you would like to exercise these rights, contact us through the Report Issue page.

We’ll verify your identity first. We enjoy helping people access their own data. We do not enjoy helping strangers access yours.

8. Children’s Privacy

ROOTATOM is designed for educational use. Where applicable law requires parental or guardian consent, appropriate authorization must be obtained before using the Service.

If we learn that information has been collected in violation of applicable age requirements, we will take reasonable steps to remove it.

9. International Users

ROOTATOM may be operated, hosted, or supported in jurisdictions different from where you live. As a result, your information may be transferred to and processed in other countries where permitted by law.

We take reasonable measures to protect information regardless of where it is stored or processed.

The internet is global. Unfortunately, servers don’t all fit inside one building.

10. Changes to This Policy

The internet evolves. Technology evolves. Laws evolve. Our developers occasionally have ideas.

Because of this, we may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll update the “Last Updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify users through the Service.

Your continued use of ROOTATOM after an update means you accept the revised Policy.

11. Contact Us

Questions about privacy? Concerns about your data? Found something confusing?

Contact us through the Report Issue page. If you’ve actually read this far, we’re impressed.

If you still have questions, we’ll do our best to answer them in plain English. No legal boss battle required.
